End Game Raiding
Successful end game raiding depends on many factors, but most particularly, group makeup,
attention to job detail, and equipment. Successful end game raids are generally highly
scripted affairs with each person doing a specific job, and doing it well.
Successful end game raiding requires careful planning, and a raid leader who can direct his
troops the way a general directs his army
Learning to master an instance is not necessarily difficult. It does take patience, cooperation,
and repetition, however. An Onyxia Lair run that might take days to master and four hours to
actually complete to success the first time (with several complete or near complete wipes involved),
will take a very experienced guild, 20
minutes. Molten Core can take weeks to master (particularly if the guild is only minimally geared
to begin with), and generally takes beginner guilds at least two nights to clear. A well oiled guild
can eventually move that to less than three hours, with no deaths. The key is to arrive at the
instance prepared (bring sufficient potions and needed gear), and to learn your job so that
explanations don't have to be given over and over, in an endless cycle that leads to mass frustration.
Gearing a guild is essential to more than moderate success. The most skilled players, no matter
their experience, cannot take down Ragnaros without sufficient fire resist gear. This holds true
for other raid instances too, (some more so than others) although the requirements for what is
needed vary from instance to instance. While a beginner guild geared out in blues and greens
can learn to master Zul'Gurub, the same does not hold true for raid instances like Molten Core,
Blackwing Lair, or those that follow. Rushing a guild to attempt instances before they are ready
will only lead to needless deaths, huge repair bills, and a lack of confidence.
The following is a logical instance progression for guilds to follow. Gear obtained in early
instances will outfit the guild so that it can successfully complete the next instances:
