Northrend has 11 zones, two of which are designated starting zones. It can be reached either by zeppelin or teleportation. The zeppelin tower outside of Orgrimmar will take you to Borean Tundra, while the tower outside of Undercity will take you to Howling Fjord. You can also teleport there via hearthstone, mage portals, or the Band of Kirin Tor, a rep reward that can be purchased from the jeweler in Dalaran, once you are level 80 and exalted with the Kirin Tor faction. Of the 11 zones, only eight are major quest zones. Dalaran, the only major city on the continent, floats above Crystalsong Forest, and has daily quests for cooking, fishing, jewel crafting, and heroics. It also contains portals to all of the battlegrounds. Crystalsong Forest will eventually have some quests; currently it's a zone where a few quests will take you, but no quests actually start there. Wintergrasp is a dedicated PvP zone, with battles to control held every two and a half hours. Both Borean Tundra and Howling Fjord are designated as starting zones. Borean Tundra has about 140 quests and Howling Fjord has about 110. Doing both zones will maximize xp, as well as give you the greatest return on money. Both zones also contain rep quests that can be done by those just starting out in Northrend.
