Blackwing Lair

Blackwing Lair is found down the corridor from the entrance to Upper Black Rock Spire. There are three pairs of guards that are found along the corridor. The Orb at the end of the corridor will grant entrance when you click it if you have become attuned to the Lair. Attunement starts with the Scarshield Quartermaster who stands right next to the Orb. Kill him and he will drop Blackhand's Command, which starts the quest.

Blackwing Lair is a linear dungeon, with the boss monsters found by going from one room to the next. A guild needs to be sufficiently geared up before starting this encounter. Molten Core and Onyxia's Lair both drop the first two tier two armor items. The rest are found in Blackwing Lair. If your guild has used those two instances on a regular basis, you're ready to attempt Blackwing Lair once you have been able to kill Ragnaros without much difficulty.

When you first enter Blackwing Lair you will find a long corridor, leading upwards. The corridor is a safe area as long as you have not begun an encounter with Razorgore, as is the area directly to the left of Razorgore's chamber. That corner is a good place to buff raid members and give final instructions before starting your encounter.

There are no "trash" mobs in the first two rooms of Blackwing Lair.

Success in Blackwing Lair depends on many factors. Raid planning cannot be hasty, and every member must understand the strategy involved.

The buff given by Scarshield Spellbinders can be highly useful in many parts of this dungeon. The first room of Upper Blackrock Spire is an excellent place to mind controll these mobs while you get the buff, and is very conveniently located when you're doing Blackwing Lair.

Blackwing Lair has eight bosses. For many of these fights there is no one set strategy. This guide contains one strategy per boss.
