The Barrens is a vast area, with quests for levels 12-25. You will need to come back to this zone a couple of times in order to get all of the quests done at appropriate levels. There are three towns in The Barrens. Crossroads is in the center, with the Gold Road leading both north and south, and another road leading east and west. The east road will take you to Ratchet, which has a boat that ferries players between Kalimdor and The Eastern Kingdom (specifically to Booty Bay). Ratchet is a neutral town and engaging in PvP will destroy your reputation with the goblin factions, eventually leading to your being attacked every time you set foot in one of their towns.

The southern part of The Barrens is home to Camp Taurejo, which is situated on the road that leads in and out of Mulgore. The quests found in Camp T are generally higher level. The Barrens also has three instances; Wailing Caverns, Razorfen Kraul, and Razorfen Downs. The Mor'shan Ramparts is located at the far north edge of The Barrens. You can find an entrance to Warsong Gulch on the west side of the road.
